Hello, beauties! If you know me, you know that I am a total sucker for foundations. Whenever a new foundation comes out, I almost always have to go check it out to see if it’s worth it. I’m especially obsessed with trying out drugstore foundations, because who doesn’t like to save a little bit of money if they can? However, recently I found a foundation that seriously ends ALL foundations for me, and you’re not going to believe what it is.
A few weeks ago, I was browsing YouTube (like I do literally 99.9% of my time) when I noticed that a lot of beauty vloggers were trying out a new foundation. Instantly, my interest was piqued, because like I said…I love foundation! My interest was even more piqued when I realized that it was a drugstore foundation! Lately, I’ve been getting into finding dupes (or cheaper alternatives…aka duplicates) for high end foundations that I love. One of my favorite foundations of all time is the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation, and although it isn’t ridiculously expensive, it’s still fun to find a similar foundation for more than half the price!
What is this foundation you ask?
It’s none other than the Maybelline 24 Hr SuperStay foundation! This foundation promises a full coverage, with a matte finish. It is meant to stay on ALL DAY, which is a huge plus for me and my busy schedule. Ain’t nobody got time for touch-ups!
The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump. Pumps are nice to have, because you can always pump out the exact amount that you know you will need. Glass bottles can be tricky, because its hard to get the full product out of the bottle once you start to get down to the final bit of product. However, the pump comes off, making it easy to shake out!
Let me just say, the full coverage claims are COMPLETELY true! With most foundations, I have to build up the product in order to get a true full coverage look. With the SuperStay, two pumps covers me completely! This is huge for me!
As for the matte claims, I would have to disagree with Maybelline, but I’m not mad at that. I have oily, combo skin, which has been getting decently dry lately. After about hour six, this foundation tends to get a little dewy on me. Like I said, it doesn’t really bother me as much, as I always set my foundation with a powder. This is just something for my true oily girls to consider before purchasing!
What I Used
I have found this foundation works great with both a Beauty Blender, or a brush, which is great. When using a brush, I always go for my E.L.F Ultimate Blending Brush. The E.L.F brush blurs out my pores, and gives me a super airbrushed finish. I love foundations that work with both a brush and a Beauty Blender, because it’s nice to have options!
Pros and Cons & Overall Thoughts
- Very full coverage
- Stays on really well
- Not too matte, not too dewy
- Matte claims are untrue
Overall, I definitely have a new favorite foundation that I cannot put down! This foundation would be great for most skin types, but like I said–super oily girls might want to try it from a friend before you buy it. The shade range is decent, but I would like to see the range go even darker. It’s a great foundation that really packs a punch, especially for the price!
